NL: Can you share a bio with us?
MC: I’m a Bergen County, New Jersey native and have been a librarian since 2019, with experience in academic, large public, and small public libraries. I’m passionate about building community through library services and creating welcoming spaces for patrons. Outside of work, I love to craft and bake, explore new coffee shops and local spots, and spend time listening to audiobooks while walking my 9-month-old puppy, Sonny. On the weekends, you can usually find me playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends or playing video games.

NL: What are you currently reading? Do you like it?
MC: I’m currently reading Murder Your Employer by Rupert Holmes and I’m absolutely loving it.

NL: If you could have any author speak at Nyack Library, who would it be and why?
MC: Stephen King, a complete dream of mine to meet him! I find his work incredible and just would love to pick his brain.

NL: Which character in a book do you most identify with?
MC: The comic relief best friend in a sappy romcom.

NL: What books are on your nightstand?
MC: The Plated Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy!

NL: Are there any books that you feel are overrated?
MC: Never! But I do have a vendetta against a certain author whose name has the initials J.P.

NL: Do you have a literary “guilty pleasure”?
MC: Romantasy and poorly written $0.99 Kindle e-books.

NL: Are you a re-reader?
MC: 100%, I find comfort in re-reading a favorite book or series. My go-to’s are Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings .

NL: How do you get out of a reading rut?
MC: I usually re-read one of my favorite series!

NL: Thoughts on prologues? Epilogues?
MC: They can easily make or break a book. For example, I read Verity  by Colleen Hoover during the hype and thought it had a decent ending. When the book was re-published with an epilogue, I thought it completely ruined the story.

NL: What’s your least favorite book?
MC: It’s not about the context but about the physical book! If it’s too heavy to hold in my hands and doesn’t easily fit in a bag I am not a happy camper.

NL: If you were to own a bookstore, what would it be like? How would you arrange the books? Would you serve coffee and food? Play music? Where would it be?
MC: One of my colleagues actually left libraries to open her own bookshop and I think she has the best idea! She takes donated books on Fridays and if you donate more than 5 books she gifts you a homemade gingerbread cookie. The books are organized by adult fiction, adult non-fiction, and then the same for children’s books and YA. I’d love to do a similar concept but also make it a gift shop & coffee shop. I’m a sucker for a good lo-fi soundtrack when I read so I’d want something soft like that playing in the space. If I could have it on a tranquil street in a busy suburban town that would be ideal.

NL: Are you a one-book-at-a-time reader? Or do you like reading multiple books at the same time?
MC: I wish I could read one at a time, but I typically read multiples. Something physical, something on my kindle, and always ALWAYS an audiobook playing.

NL: Do you DNF (do not finish) books or always read until the end?
MC: It is SUPER rare for me to DNF a book. I try to give every book the benefit of the doubt and if I finish it and don’t like it – well maybe it’s not for me but I could possibly recommend it to someone else!
