NL: Can you share a bio with us?
CCT: I am the school librarian at Valley Cottage Elementary School. I started my children’s library career when I was nine years old at the Nyack Library. Betty Brock, the former librarian, was my mentor. I worked all through school and college at Nyack Public. Later, I served as Head of Children’s Services for 15 years there. The Nyack Library has a special place in my heart. I love children’s books, craft books, mystery, psychological thrillers, and romance. I love being a school librarian now and teaching students how the library works, and getting them excited about books and reading!

NL: What are you currently reading? Do you like it?
CCT: Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben. Yes, I am enjoying it very much.

NL: If you could have any author speak at Nyack Library, who would it be and why?
CCT: Mo Willems! He is just so funny and loved by kids and adults alike. There is a Gerald, Piggie, and Pigeon in all of us.

NL: Which character in a book do you most identify with?
CCT: The one that everything goes wrong for, but it all works out in the end.

NL: What books are on your nightstand?
CCT: Frieda McFadden‘s newest, some craft books, some trash romances, and the Bible.

NL: Are there any books that you feel are overrated?
CCT: To each his own!

NL: Do you have a literary “guilty pleasure”?
CCT: Yes, trashy historical romances set out west and anything by Sandra Brown.

NL: Are you a re-reader?
CCT: Yes, especially ones where they all lived happily ever after

NL: How do you get out of a reading rut?
CCT: Go browse at the library or look at publisher emails and catalogs.

NL: Thoughts on prologues? Epilogues?
CCT: I like them!

NL: What’s your least favorite book?
CCT: Toss-up between A Separate Peace and Lord of the Flies.

NL: If you were to own a bookstore, what would it be like? How would you arrange the books? Would you serve coffee and food? Play music? Where would it be?
CCT: I would arrange by genre, yes to coffee, food, and maybe wine. Music too. A children’s section with storytimes and crafty fun, too. In a small town, for sure.

NL: Are you a one-book-at-a-time reader? Or do you like reading multiple books at the same time?
CCT: I read multiple books. And I listen in the car as well.

NL: Do you DNF (do not finish) books or always read until the end?
CCT: I finish the book 99% of the time. It’s rare I don’t read till the end.
