​Serving as a public library since 1873, The Nyack Library plays an important role in archiving and supporting local history. The Nyack Library’s Isabelle K. Savell Local History Department is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and promoting the study of local history in Nyack, Rockland County, and the Hudson Valley region. Our collection consists of newspaper clippings (270 linear feet), pamphlets (175 linear feet), photographs and postcards (over 5000 images), approximately 1600 books, maps (over 70), oral history recordings (approximately 70 audio tapes), and ephemera. We are dedicated to making many of these materials accessible to the public by digitizing parts of the collection and creating finding aids and comprehensive indices to increase their use and research value.
