Exhibits showcase local artists in the Blue Gallery, Staircase and Klay Exhibit Case. Guest artists are limited to these three areas.
Exhibit Procedure
Before an exhibit can be scheduled, artwork shall be reviewed by the Program Coordinator. Note that the Nyack Library Gallery spaces are family-friendly and excessively violent or sexualized images may not be deemed appropriate for display in this location. The Library reserves the right to limit the number of works on display.
Artist/Exhibitor’s Responsibilities
- Artists are responsible for delivery, pickup and hanging their own artwork.
- Two-dimensional artwork must arrive with a hanging wire across the back of it, to allow our exhibit hanging system to function properly.
- Small sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and other three-dimensional artwork will be placed in the Klay Gallery Exhibit Case, dimensions: 7’-10” l. x 24” w/ x 30” h.
- Each work of art must be accompanied by a card with the following information on it: Title, Medium used, Price or NFS (if it is not for sale).
- Artist must provide a complete list of the art and prices in the exhibit via a Google or Word Document and email it to the Program Coordinator.
- Artist will need to provide a one page biography or exhibit description (portrait orientation only) via an emailed digital file (Word or Google document). This description will be posted with the exhibit.
- Artwork must remain on exhibit throughout the entirety of the scheduled month.
- The location and dates of the exhibition is up to the discretion and availability of the Library galleries /Outreach/Program Administrator.
The Library is not responsible for the theft or damage to items on exhibit, nor does it provide insurance to protect them. Insurance is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor.
Publicity
The Library and artist will be responsible for the publicity of the exhibit.
Sales
Artworks for sale can be purchased at the Circulation & CRC Desks. The Nyack Library will extract a 30% commission fee on each sale. All art remains on display until the last day of the exhibit. After the exhibit is over, a check minus the commission will be sent to the artist within two weeks.
