About the Anthology
Lit by the River was created to celebrate the literary voices of Nyack and the surrounding river communities. The collection brings together fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and memoir, offering readers an opportunity to discover the diverse voices and perspectives of writers from our community.
The cover artwork by Bill Batson and Marisol Diaz depicts the Bench by the Road monument in Nyack’s Memorial Park, honoring abolitionist and entrepreneur Cynthia Hesdra and connecting the anthology to Nyack’s history, creativity, and sense of place.
