About the Local History Room
The Nyack Library’s Isabelle K. Savell Local History room is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and promoting the study of local history in Nyack, Rockland County, and the Hudson Valley region. Our collection consists of vertical files of newspaper clippings (270 linear feet), pamphlets (175 linear feet), photographs and postcards (over 5000 images and growing) , approximately 1600 books and growing, maps (70+), oral history recordings (approximately 70 audio tapes and some recently acquired DVD recordings), and ephemera. We are working diligently to make these materials more accessible to the general public by digitizing parts of the collection and creating finding aids and indexes to increase use of the collection. The first part of our photograph collection is now available to search on the Hudson River Valley Heritage web site: http://www.hrvh.org/nyacklibrary
If you have items of local interest you would like to donate to the library, please call (845-358-3370 extension 223), email Brian Jennings at bjennings@nyacklibrary.org , or stop by the local history room to chat.
