Loan Periods

• Adult & Children’s Books:  28 days
• Audio Books:  28 days
• New Adult Books:  14 days
• Playaways:  28 days
• Express Books:  7 days
• Periodicals:  14 days
• New entertainment DVDs:  3 days
• Series DVDs:  7 days
• Older entertainment VHS/DVDs:  7 days
• Non-fiction DVDs:  28 days
• Video Games:  14 days

Loan Limits

• Express (7-day) books:  2
• Playaways:  2
• Books on CD or Cassette:  6
• Music CDs or Cassettes:  10
• CD ROMs:  3
• Video Games: 2
• New Entertainment DVD: 3
  
• Older Entertainment DVD:  7
• Entertainment VHS:  7

Temporary limits may be set from time to time on materials in special subject areas.  The overall limit of items checked out on any card is fifty (50).

Late Charges

The daily fine per item for overdue materials is $.10, except:

• Juvenile/Children’s material:  $.05
• Express (7-Day) Book:  $.20
• Out-of-district material:  $.20
• VHS, DVD & Video Game:  $1
• Museum Pass:  $5

Maximum Fines on Overdue Materials

The maximum fine for overdue materials per item is generally $8.00 except:

• Juvenile book, record, cassette:  $4
• Circulating periodical, uncataloged paperback, pamphlet: $3

 Damaged Materials

Any materials that are damaged beyond repair while checked out to a borrower shall be charged to the borrower’s library card account as listed on the item record.

Lost/Damaged Cases

• VHS or Playaway case:  $2
• Music cassette case:  $1
• Compact Disc case:  $1
• DVD or Video Game case:  $2.50
• Audio Book case:  $2 and up
• Lost Bags (book with cassette):  $5
• Video Games: $10

Audio-Visual Materials

VHS tapes, DVDs, video games, CDs and audiocassettes that are borrowed from the Nyack Library and are enclosed in hard cases, may be put into the Book Drop, provided the cases are securely closed with a rubber band. Borrowers of library audio-visual materials use them at their own risk on their home equipment. The Nyack Library will not be responsible for damage to equipment.

Renewals

All materials that are not on request for another patron may be renewed a maximum of two times. Video games cannot be renewed. Materials may be renewed by calling the Circulation Department or online at our website using a valid RCLS library card: http://nyacklibrary.org.
